The original "Pensive Pachyderm" is a privately comissioned African Elephant.  Prints of this wise soul are available to purchase, even though the original is not.
 
The piece is meant to capture the intelligence and emotion those who love elephants have seen in these charasmatic creatures.  The eyes of the individual are meant to convey both contemplation and a certain sadness, for the plight of not only elephants but of all life on Earth facing challenges to existance.
